Current Aim How do I volunteer?

Success Stories

"I found myself at home all day with nothing to do. Now I have many friends and loads to do.
We have fun as well as learning new skills such as computing. I would never have done this before I became a volunteer."

"The main attraction of being a volunteer with Barnado's was to be able to help a good cause and to do it in the time I had free.
I love helping Barnado's and they help me"

"As a Mum I was looking for some voluntary work that fitted in with my busy home life.

'Children North East', with their 'Family Link Project', has proved to be just the kind of volunteering I was looking for as they are training me to become a befriender to a family in need of support and advice.

I'll be spending just 2 - 3 hours a week helping a local family with some of their day to day problems we all face from time to time as parents.

I had help and support as a mum and now I am looking forward to giving something back to the local community."

"Volunteering offers lots of opportunities and I would encourage anyone in my position to visit the Volunteer Bureau to find out more."
